It was the evening we were getting married. We had a small wedding. After the dancing it was time to go home, but my new husband managed to leave his truck keys in his sister’s purse. We waited for her to bring them back to us. Then we went to go get some sleep before going on our honeymoon. Well we overslept, but Southwest was nice enough to get us on the next plane when they found out we were newlyweds. We were a family ofr 4 as my husband already had a son and daughter (both beautiful kids and now adults. We went to the beach and the casinos, and you know, other stuff. We had about 6 gleefully happy months and then our hearts rejoiced as I became pregnant with our first daughter. She is so beautiful and smart and already 22 years old. Then in a little less than 2 years we had our son, Ryan, who happened to have Down Syndrome. Two years later we had our second son, Jeffrey. He is now 6’3″ and in college. Then a little less than 3 years we were blessed with identical twin daughters. This was a time when I had to give up teaching and become a stay at home mom. Ryan had more doctor appointments than expected. He had 3 wholes in his heart, a big bruise on his head and juandice. He was in the NICU for 8 days which isn’t bad considering he was 5 weeks early. Before the twins were born I told my husband we should take the kids to Chuck E Cheese one last time before the twins were born. Well, I got a stomach virus and was in the hospital for four months and then they induced the twins at 38 weeks. They had twin to twin transfusion and Megan had lost a lot of blood. They took her straight to the NICU. She was there for 2 weeks. But now we were all at home and ready to take on the world. After all, other than the kids, who needs to sleep or eat?
